Join the Nonprofit Management and Community Leadership program's Lunch and Learn Series for guest speaker Evangula Brown, B.S. '09, M.P.A. '12, who will discuss her role as a Civilian Review Board Investigator at the Office of Civil Rights and Wage Enforcement in Baltimore City. Free and open to the public, light refreshments will be served.
About Evangula Brown...
Ms. Brown has undergraduate degrees in Criminal Justice from the Community College of Baltimore County and the University of Baltimore, and earned her Master of Public Administration degree with a concentrations in criminal justice/public policy from UB.
She currently works full-time as a Civilian Review Board Investigator at the Office of Civil Rights and Wage Enforcement in Baltimore City where she investigates allegations of excessive force, false arrest, false imprisonment, harassment and abusive language filed against members of the Baltimore City Police and five other law enforcement agencies in Baltimore City.
Ms. Brown has been an adjunct professor at the Community College of Baltimore County in the School of Business, Criminal Justice & Law for five years where she teaches introduction to criminal justice and criminology courses. Most recently, Ms. Brown traveled to Limerick, Ireland with Dr. Heather Wyatt-Nichol and Dr. Lorenda Naylor from the College of Public Affairs for a conference on Global Transparency where she co-presented with Dr. Heather Wyatt-Nichol. Ms. Brown has also been presenting her work on the minority student population and cultural responsive teaching at various conferences.
Ms. Brown has volunteered with community organizations in Baltimore City. During her graduate studies, Ms. Brown volunteered through the University of Baltimore with the Center for Children and Family/UB Law School at Highlandtown Middle School. Ms. Brown also became a Court Appoint Special Advocate (CASA), where she served as an advocate for her youth for four years. After completing her graduate degree, Ms. Brown began working at CASA of Baltimore as the Senior Manager for Volunteer Recruitment and Training. An additional community organization Ms. Brown serves at is Imagine Me Ministries, Inc., where she began her work in 2007 as a mentor. Ms. Brown currently serves on Imagine Me’s Board and has been with the organization for almost 10 years.
