Legendary economist Milton Friedman argues that the role of business was to generate a profit for shareholders and if you deviated from that to include social responsibility you'll be less competitive. Murray Dalziel, dean of the Merrick School of Business, and Scott Dorsey Chairman and CEO of Merritt Properties and discuss this premise and delve deeper into whether businesses can really do good for others.
