Welcome to the College of Public Affairs.
The underlying focus of all academic programs in the college—both undergraduate and graduate—is public policy, which includes the systems of laws, regulatory measures, international connections and funding priorities that governments create and implement.
The College of Public Affairs is committed to providing students with Knowledge that Works to prepare them to become problem-solvers and leaders in today’s complex public arena. Our commitment to excellence in education is recognized through certification and accreditation from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the Association of University Programs in Health Administration and the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration.
Our top-quality faculty includes nationally recognized scholars who promote your learning through knowledge informed by their own research and scholarship and challenge you to become critical thinkers. Through engaged learning, you will have opportunities to apply classroom learning to real-world situations. And, through the college’s programs, you can contribute to the dialogue and decisions about public policies that will guide communities, states, the nation and the international world.
Our three distinctive schools—the School of Criminal Justice, the School of Health and Human Services, and the School of Public and International Affairs—are complemented by the Schaefer Center for Public Policy, the applied research and service arm of the college. The center offers opportunities for faculty and students to put their knowledge to work on research and technical assistance projects sponsored by local, state, and federal governments, nonprofit organizations, and other enterprises.
This is an exciting time to be at the College of Public Affairs. On behalf of the college’s dedicated faculty and staff, I welcome you here and encourage you to explore your future with us. We also welcome your questions and suggestions.
I look forward to hearing from you at spercy@ubalt.edu.
