UB Foundation Announces Three New Board Members

The University of Baltimore Foundation has announced the appointment of three new members to its board. The new members, all of whom are alumni of the University of Baltimore, will participate in fundraising and other activities designed to provide financial support to the University.
The foundation is a designated 501c3, first established in 1969. In addition to assisting in the financial well-being of the institution, the board also provides leadership, oversight and guidance to the UB administration in advancing the mission of the University.
The new board members are:
Shirley Marcus Allen, M.P.A. '78, recently retired from her role as a partner with Venture Philanthropy Partners, a high-engagement philanthropic investment firm that provides significant multi-year growth capital and strategic management support to nonprofits serving children and youths from low-income families in the national capital region. Allen managed a multi-million dollar portfolio of nonprofit organizations, conducted due diligence and analysis of investment criteria to select high performing philanthropic investments, assisted in the creation of growth-oriented business plans, and provided strategic advice designed to assist nonprofit organizations in achieving their proposed social outcomes. Prior to joining VPP, Allen serve as vice president of membership services at the Child Welfare League of America, with responsibility for six regional offices throughout the country and for ensuring the connections of more than 1,100 public and private member agencies through the development of numerous conferences and trainings. She also served the director for the Baltimore City Department of Social Services, where she was responsible for ensuring the health and safety for the city's most disadvantaged citizens and for administering a wide range of public assistance programs. Allen is a member of the Board of Directors of Care First Blue Cross Blue Shield, Year Up National Capital Region and Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection. She resides in Washington, D.C.
Georgette Kiser, M.B.A. '04, a vice president at T. Rowe Price, where she manages the enterprise solutions and capabilities area. She participates on several boards, including the T. Rowe Price Foundation Trustee Board, the University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business Dean's Advisory Board, and The Boys' Latin School of Maryland Trustee Board. Prior to her role in the finance industry, Kiser was a software engineer at General Electric, and grew into her career into management through GE's technical leadership development program in its Aerospace Unit. Kiser also has worked at Martin Marietta and consulted at Fannie Mae.
Nina K. Yudell, B.S. '81, M.B.A. '82, a partner and portfolio manager at the Brown Advisory investment advisory firm. Prior to joining the firm, Yudell was a portfolio manager and investment analyst for Alex. Brown Investment Management. She also worked for T. Rowe Price Associates in an investment management position. She currently serves as a member of the Merrick School of Business Dean’s Advisory Board.
The University of Baltimore is a member of the University System of Maryland and comprises the College of Public Affairs, the Merrick School of Business, the UB School of Law and the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences.
