Finalists Announced for UB's Annual Rise to the Challenge Competition, April 21

Seven University of Baltimore students and alumni have been selected as finalists in the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation's fourth annual "Rise to the Challenge" Pitch Competition, an opportunity to show off new ideas and concepts for businesses before an audience of consumers and entrepreneurial experts. The event will take place on Thursday, April 21 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in UB's Turner Learning Commons Town Hall, 1415 Maryland Ave. The event is free and open to the public; an R.S.V.P. is required. PLEASE NOTE: Immediately following the competition, a screening of the documentary film STRT1UP ... Venturing Through the Land of Pleasant Living will take place. All Rise to the Challenge attendees are invited to stay for the film, which showcases the annual entrepreneurial bus tour known as Startup Maryland.
The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in UB's Merrick School of Business has selected four undergraduate students, two graduate students and one UB alumnus to compete for $15,000 in cash and prizes at this year's competition. Judges from the local business community will join UB experts in selecting the winner.
The finalists and their businesses are:

- Jaminson Rodriguez, junior in the Merrick School of Business, for Specialty Auto Parts
- Takia Ross, B.A. '11, for Accessmatized
- Ryan Schuman, M.B.A candidate, for BubbleballMD
- Opeyemi Thomas, junior in the Merrick School of Business and an Entrepreneurship Fellow, for Roadi
- Shane Yeager, junior in the Merrick School of Business and an Entrepreneurship Fellow, for Shortclips
