The University of Baltimore College of Public Affairs will host "Moving from Protests to Policy: Making Advocacy Count," an overview of both the accomplishments and the stalled efforts of the 2016 Maryland legislative session, on Friday, May 13 starting at 6 p.m. in the atrium of the William H. Thumel Sr. Business Center (home of UB's Merrick School of Business), 11 W. Mt. Royal Ave. The event is free and open to the public, although registration is required. Details are listed below.
During this two-hour session, community and institutional advocates, organizers and public-policy experts will discuss what worked and what didn't during the legislative session that ended last month. They will consider whether their efforts resulted in legislation that will have the impact that they hoped for on families and communities, and talk about ways that next year's session can meet their expectations.
Registration for this event can be completed here.
The wrap-up session is sponsored by the College of Public Affairs, Associated Black Charities and Baltimore Racial Justice Action.
