Scott "Scottie B" Rice, one of the founding fathers of the Baltimore club music scene, will discuss community involvement and the ethical challenges of working in the music business on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. in the M. Scot Kaufman Auditroium in the William H. Thumel Sr. Business Center home of the Merrick School of Business), 11 W. Mt. Royal Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
Scottie B, alongside fellow house music DJs Shawn Caesar and Karizma, founded Unruly Records in the mid-1990s. With a "penchant for pushing the envelope," the label became the centerpiece of a much-loved and internationally recognized style of club, and the trio "defined the genre and released a slew of unforgettable records," according to Baltimore City Paper.
Scottie B's appearance at UB is sponsored by the University of Baltimore's Hoffberger Center for Professional Ethics.
