UB Undergraduate, Graduate Commencement Set for Dec. 18; Livestream Starts at 1 p.m.

The University of Baltimore will host commencement ceremonies for its graduate and undergraduate classes from the College of Public Affairs, the Merrick School of Business and the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences on Monday, Dec. 18 in the Patricia and Arthur Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric, adjacent to the UB campus.
The combined graduate and undergraduate ceremony will begin at 1 p.m., with U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos delivering a keynote address. UB President Kurt L. Schmoke will offer greetings to the graduating students and their guests, and also lead in the conferring of all degrees. President Schmoke will be joined by Robert R. Neall, representative of the University System of Maryland Board of Regents, and Stuart Goldberg, B.A. '70, J.D. '74, president of the University of Baltimore Alumni Association and chair of the University of Baltimore Foundation’s Alumni Committee, in welcoming the audience to the event. UB Provost Darlene Smith, B.S. '78, MBA '80, will conduct the ceremonial turning of the tassels. USM Chancellor Robert Caret will offer brief remarks.
Student Brandee Izquierdo will deliver a speech as the official Class of 2017 representative for all graduate students. Marshall Glaze will serve in the same role as the Class of 2017 representative for all undergraduates.
