Michele Filgate, a member of the National Book Critics Circle and a specialist in the business of writing, will discuss ways that writers can use their skills toward the establishment of a career, when the University of Baltimore's M.F.A. in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts Reading Series hosts its next event on Tuesday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 308 in UB's Liberal Arts and Policy Building, 10 W. Preston St. The event is free and open to the public.
Filgate is a contributing editor at Literary Hub. Her work has appeared in Longreads, Tin House, Gulf Coast, The Washington Post, Poets & Writers, the Los Angeles Times, Slice, O the Oprah Magazine, and many other publications.
Filgate's talk is intended for poets, fiction writers and memoirists. She'll focus on all of the tools that writers need, including the art of the pitch, best practices for working with editors, and staying organized.
