A great professor can leave a lasting impact that carries long beyond graduation day. To celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2-6), we asked students and alumni to show their gratitude to the professors at The University of Baltimore that meant the most to them.
The Robert L. Bogomolny Library and CELTT received more than 100 personal messages to share with faculty. Here's a glimpse of some of the messages our students wrote.
- "Thank you, Sarah Federman for teaching me the 'art of asking'. Everything I've asked for, I received since my Negotiations class." -Shantell K.
- "Thank you, Courtney Gasser for your mentorship, guidance and support in my journey as a health service psychologist. The marathon continues." -Donovan R.
- "I would like to thank Elizabeth Nix and Joshua Clark Davis. They are not only two of the nicest people at University of Baltimore that anyone could meet, but they are great to have as mentors. I had many classes with them during my time at University of Baltimore that were very interesting. Additionally, they welcomed me with open arms and encouraged me to run for a History Club officer position." -Samuel S.
- "Heather L. Pfeifer, Debra Stanley and Ben Wright! All of you left an amazing mark on me regarding my professional career in different ways. At times you were hard on me and help me [with] accountability. At other times you were an amazing support system ... but always a cheerleader. Thank you for believing in what I could do and pushing me towards my purpose." -Michelle P.
- "From the School of Law, thank you Professor [Mortimer] Sellers for believing in LL.M. students and treating us as lawyers. Also, [thank you] for bringing someone to explain about the bar exam. We really appreciate it." -Marialex M.
- "Tigineh Mersha and Edward Kemery. Dr. Mersha encouraged me, and I was very proud to have a professor who looked like me and supported me. Dr. Kemery had an open-door policy and he was available to bounce some ideas off of after college during my professional career." -Martino W.
- "Steven D. Cohen, I thank you for teaching me public speaking. I still read your book daily. When I was recently hired back as a recruiter for CPA graduate admission, my new boss emphasized my speaking during my interview. He was impressed at how much I did not use 'Um…' So I thank you for giving me the confidence in speaking." -Helen F.
- "There were so many wonderful professors that made an impact on me during my time at UB, but I want to specifically thank Prof. Stephen Matanle. His warmth and kindness were a breath of fresh air for a young undergrad student who had anxiety about coming to class." -Toyin A.
