As Baltimore welcomes a new exhibition on the city and state's civil rights history, while at the same time race-based violence continues to plague society at large, University of Baltimore Associate Professor of History Joshua Clark Davis says the opportunity to educate young people about the long struggle for racial equality is crucial.
"I've heard from many, many students the idea that they feel they've been denied that history somewhat," Prof. Davis tells WJZ-TV, while touring the "Passion and Purpose: Voices of Maryland's Civil Rights Activists" exhibition at the Maryland Center for History and Culture.
Davis served as a member of the center's curatorial panel. On May 26, he will be part of a panel discussion, "Black Activism in Maryland," at the center.
