The School of Health & Human Services at the University of Baltimore proposes to host a diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) event, titled “Voices of DEIA at the University of Baltimore.” This community-wide event will bring together faculty, staff, and students at the University of Baltimore (UB) with individuals in the surrounding community to discuss the importance of DEIA initiatives, in addition to exploring ways to reduce healthcare disparities within the health and human services sector. This event will educate and increase awareness about DEIA to promote equitable access to opportunities, services, and resources across our region, in addition to promoting community-engaged pedagogy through the use of interactive forums with five diverse panelists trained in DEIA from public and private sectors. Additionally, this event provides UB faculty with another professional development opportunity that can potentially influence their teaching and inform research policy and professional practices within their fields that incorporate principles of equity and justice.
