Description:

If just one book can change the course of a person's life, then literacy is the means to turning a life sentence of poverty into one of freedom, justice, and ideas.

34% of Baltimore's 3rd graders are reading below grade level, a figure that is double the State average. What can the University of Baltimore do for this year’s Make a Difference Day to show that we believe that Baltimore can do better?

Our answer is simple: We will be helping families in Southwest Baltimore build BookBoxes, or mini-free libraries in four neighborhoods to provide free and accessible books to all families and children.  Join us afterward for a neighborhood celebration, including food, fun, and discussion.

This year we will only be accepting 150 volunteers. Volunteer registration is now open!

During the event you will have the opportunity to help build BookBoxes, or you can collect, sort, or curate books.
