Prof. Daniel Hatcher, of UBalt Law's Saul Ewing Civil Advocacy Clinic, will discuss his new book, Injustice Inc., which exposes the hidden contractual operations of how courts, prosecutors, probation, police, sheriffs and detention facilities operate like divisions of a factory business, using vulnerable populations as a vast revenue-generating enterprise. Evidence reveals the carceral "poverty industry" is more motivated by profit than justice.
Joining Prof. Hatcher to discuss his book will be Eli Hager, a reporter with ProPublica who specializes in issues affecting at-risk youth, and Elizabeth Rossi, director of strategic initiatives with the nonprofit Civil Rights Corps. A reception will follow the discussion.
