Annual OTS System Outage

On the first Friday of every January, OTS performs a major system outage to complete critical system maintenance. Because of the major impact on the community, we are communicating this well in advance so you can plan for this event. This year's planned outage is Friday, January 6th, 2023. (Schedule is listed below). Starting at 4:00 pm, MyUB and all other related PeopleSoft services supporting finance, admissions, financial aid, bursar, records and registration, advising, human resources, and student finance will be shut down. The operations of general campus services such as the wired network, wireless network, telephones, Internet access, and all shared drives (M, R, S, T) will not be impacted until 5 PM. Starting at 5 PM, OTS is planning a full network outage. After that time, all of these services should be expected to be unavailable. This activity is very important as it permits OTS time to perform critical maintenance on our network equipment. This schedule was established to impact the campus minimally. The scheduled maintenance will not affect off-campus access to email and Sakai. We anticipate the work to be completed and all systems back online by Friday evening around midnight. Additional general broadcast email messages will be sent in January announcing this outage. During this outage, our backup website will be activated. Here are the impacted systems and the time when each will be unavailable to the UBalt user community:

  • 4:00 pm - PeopleSoft Finance, MyUB, and all other related PeopleSoft services supporting admissions, financial aid, bursar, records and registration, advising, human resources, and student finance will be shut down.
  • 5:00 pm - The full network outage of general campus services such as the wired network, wireless network, telephones, Internet access, and all shared drives (M, R, S, T) will be shut down and unavailable.
  • Services such as Microsoft Office365 (e.g., Email, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint), Zoom, and Sakai are not impacted because they are hosted off campus.
