Business Law: Summer Job Search Workshop

When:
Location:
John and Frances Angelos Law Center
Room:
AL 102
Description:

Many excellent business law firms hire summer law clerks, paralegals and/or entry-level attorneys … just not through law school on-campus interviewing programs!  Usually, these firms hire summer law clerks throughout the fall semester and even into the start of the spring semester.

Some are large firms, with a wide range of practice areas, similar to many of the OCI firms. Others focus just on defense-side or plaintiff-side civil litigation. Many specialize in one or two areas such as business transactions, tax, real estate, estate planning and litigation, elder law, labor & employment, or intellectual property.  Their hiring practices vary considerably, both in the timing of their interview process as well as their application requirements. All of them, however, are looking for UB Law students who are interested in them!

To learn more about business law firms, and how to apply for summer positions, attend one of the LCDO’s Business Law: Summer Job Search Workshops.

In addition, students interested in business law should attend the LCDO’s Department of Justice (DOJ) Information Session on Tuesday, August 29th, from 5 – 6 p.m. The DOJ offers highly complex litigation and trial practices across a wide range of practice areas, similar to corporate law firms, but on the enforcement side of the case. Many business law attorneys, especially in Washington, D.C., began their legal careers at the DOJ or another federal government agency.
