World Refugee Day

When:
Description:

June 20th is World Refugee Day, designated by the United Nations to honor refugees around the globe. This day is meant to honor the strength and perseverance of those forced to flee their home country to escape violence and persecution.

This year, World Refugee Day focuses on the power of inclusion and solutions for refugees, with the theme being “hope away from home.” The year 2023 also focuses on Storyteller Celebration, encouraging refugees and allies to share their stories and inspirations. To uplift refugees, we can raise awareness, advocate for their rights, and donate to support them.

In the fall semester, we will be hosting events dedicated towards highlighting the lived experience of refugees from around the world and ways to support them. Please let us know if you would be interested in taking part in this initiative or if you would like to share your story with our UBalt community.
