Please join us for a bookwarming and roundtable discussion celebrating the publication of Assistant Professor Steven Leyva's debut collection of poems, The Understudy's Handbook, winner of the Jean Feldman Poetry Prize, published by Washington Writers' Publishing House. The roundtable discussion will feature acclaimed poet Tim Seibles, author of Fast Animal and former Virginia State Poet Laureate, and zakia henderson-brown, author of What Kind of Omen Am I, winner of the Poetry Society of America chapbook fellowship, in conversation with Steven Leyva. These three poets will discuss mentorship, literary friendship, and the journey of making a first book.
