The University of Baltimore's M.F.A. in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts Fall 2013 Reading Series will open with UB's own Marion Winik, assistant professor in the Klein Family School of Communications Design, reading from her new book, Highs in the Low Fifties: How I Stumbled Through the Joys of Single Living, on Monday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. in the Hilda and Michael Bogomolny Room in UB's Student Center, 21 W. Mt. Royal Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
Winik is the author of a number of celebrated books, including The Glen Rock Book of the Dead, Above Us Only Sky, Rules for the Unruly: Living an Unconventional Life, and several others. She has contributed essays and articles to The New York Times Magazine, McCalls, Cosmopolitan, Baltimore Fishbowl and many others, and has served as a commentator on National Public Radio.
About Winik's new book, Baltimore author Laura Lippman said, "Highs in the Low Fifties hits the bull's eye—funny, sharp, poignant, wise."
