Many of the region's top experts in data analysis and public accessibility will attend the 5th annual Baltimore Data Day, to be held at the University of Baltimore on Friday, July 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the William H. Thumel Sr. Business Center, home of the Merrick School of Business, 11 W. Mt. Royal Ave. The event is hosted by the Baltimore Neighborhood Indicators Alliance-Jacob France Institute.
Baltimore Data Day is a gathering of community leaders, nonprofit organizations, governmental entities and civic-minded "hackers" come together to analyze the latest trends in community-based data, technology and tools, and learn how other groups are using data to support and advance constructive change.
The presentations and analysis of data—vital information about neighborhoods, housing stock, education, economy, sustainability, and so on—has become the key to understanding what drives our communities, what our challenges are and where the solutions live. Meta-analysis—the compounding and interpretation of data sets to build richer, more robust portraits of communities—has become an essential task for public officials, community leaders and agents of change from both the public and private sectors.
At Baltimore Data Day, experts in both data and communities will gather to compare notes, contrast their findings, and find new ways to work together to provide an even greater understanding of our city.
