Kevin Gracie, a second-year student attending the University of Baltimore School of Law, was declared the 50 millionth fan to walk through the gates at the Baltimore Oriole's Camden Yards on Aug. 19. Gracie, who told The (Baltimore) Sun that he has been attending O's games since he was in pre-school, received a $50,000 check from the club and two Orioles season tickets for the next five years.
Gracie, 24, started his second year of law school on Aug. 18. He is concentrating in criminal law. Among his activities at the school is its softball team, where he plays shortstop alongside UB School of Law Dean Phillip J. Closius.
"Kevin is the ideal winner of the Orioles' promotion," Closius said of Gracie. "He plays sports, talks sports, and, most importantly, is a lifelong, diehard Orioles fan."
"I am still in utter amazement at what occurred," Gracie said. "It was the most amazing fulfillment of a childhood dream. I already manage to watch the games at home, sometimes with the sound off, and study at the same time. I hardly ever miss a game."
The University of Baltimore is a member of the University System of Maryland and comprises the School of Law, the Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts and the Merrick School of Business.
