The online version of the UB/Towson MBA—now entering its second semester of operation after last fall's launch of a revised curriculum and a redesigned approach to course delivery—has been ranked #62 nationally by U.S. News & World Report in its 2015 Best Online MBA Programs evaluation. It is the only online MBA in Maryland to receive a ranking.
The newly redeveloped MBA, a partnership between the University of Baltimore's Merrick School of Business and Towson University's College of Business and Economics, is the product of nearly two years of collaborative work to redesign the existing program. The institutions established partnerships with the Baltimore business community and with their alumni, current and prospective students, and faculty. The UB/Towson MBA, available both online and at both campuses, encourages students to build their own program tailored to fit their busy lives and their career goals. Enrollees engage in an entrepreneurial and/or corporate focus, with 10 available specializations.
"The MBA degree is still the degree of choice for professionals seeking to advance their careers in business," said Merrick School of Business Dean Murray Dalziel. "The online offering gives students tremendous flexibility about when and where they actually study without diminishing any of the benefits you get from being in a physical classroom."
Shohreh Kaynama, dean of the College of Business and Economics at Towson University, said, "We take pride in our top 100 ranking in U.S. News since our online MBA program mission is to provide a high quality, accessible, and affordable MBA education to students."
The UB/Towson MBA was ranked in the U.S. News 2015 Best Online Graduate MBA Programs in a tie with online MBAs at Florida International University, Florida State University, and Clarion University of Pennsylvania. It came in just behind programs at Colorado State University, Wayne State University, and Syracuse University (Whitman).
According to U.S. News, the evaluation of online programs is based solely on data related to schools' distance education MBA programs. This year, non-MBA business degrees, in areas such as finance, marketing and management, are found in a separate ranking for Best Online Graduate Business Programs.
Students whose schedules require it may take the entire UB/Towson MBA online. Learn more about the UB/Towson MBA here.
