UB Undergraduate, Graduate Commencement Ceremonies Set for May 23

The University of Baltimore will host commencement ceremonies for its graduate and undergraduate classes from the College of Public Affairs, the Merrick School of Business and the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences on Monday, May 23 in the Patricia and Arthur Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric, adjacent to the UB campus.
For the graduate ceremony, beginning at 10:30 a.m., the speaker will be Dr. Maria Thompson, president of Coppin State University. For the undergraduate ceremony, taking place at 2 p.m. that same day, the speaker will be the Hon. Boyd K. Rutherford, lieutenant governor for the State of Maryland.
At both ceremonies, UB President Kurt L. Schmoke will offer greetings to the graduating students and their guests, and also lead in the conferring of all degrees. At both the undergraduate ceremony and graduate ceremonies, Schmoke will be joined by Robert L. Pevenstein, representative of the University System of Maryland Board of Regents, and Stuart Goldberg, B.A. '70, J.D. '74, president of the University of Baltimore Alumni Association and chair of the University of Baltimore Foundation's Alumni Committee, in welcoming the audience to the events.
Student Sydney M. Callahan will offer remarks at the undergraduate ceremony as the official Class of 2016 representative. Lisa M. Van Wormer will serve in the same role as the Class of 2016 representative at the graduate ceremony.
The University of Baltimore is a member of the University System of Maryland and comprises the College of Public Affairs, the Merrick School of Business, the UB School of Law and the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences.
