The University of Baltimore and its partners, the University System of Maryland and Leadership Maryland, will host the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) on Friday, March 29 for a midday conference, "Highlighting Economic Development and Higher Education in Maryland." The event will take place in the University of Baltimore Student Center's Bogomolny Room, 21 W. Mt. Royal Ave., from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The event is open only to MEDA and Leadership Maryland members.
UB President Kurt L. Schmoke will discuss the ways that the University, located in the center of the state's largest city, supports a wide range of students, including working adults, first-generation college goers, career-changers, and more, as they seek transformative educational experiences in their lives and work.
The MEDA conversation, the fourth in a series highlighting the impact of the partnership between the state's leaders in economic development and higher education, will focus on UB's partnerships with both the private and pubic sectors in the city and beyond, and the ways in which these efforts create new opportunities for its students, alumni, and supporters.
Scheduled speakers include:
- Kim Clark, MEDA president and executive vice president of the Baltimore Development Corporation
- James D. Fielder, secretary, Maryland Higher Education Commission
