The Forensic Science degree programs in the University of Baltimore's College of Public Affairs have been named the best in Maryland for 2019 by Universities.com. UB's degree offerings were among those of seven institutions in Maryland to be surveyed; the site says that the rankings are based on data provided by government sources, student surveys, college graduate interviews, and editorial review. UB's programs finished ahead of Towson University, Stevenson University, Coppin State University, University of Maryland-University College, and a number of community colleges.
"This is exciting news for our faculty, students and alumni of the programs," said Roger E. Hartley, dean of the College of Public Affairs. "Being ranked #1 in Maryland confirms the quality of these programs and their reputation among criminal justice agencies in the state and region."
Hartley noted that the demand for employees in forensic science is high, and that forensic science is a critical, technical aspect of the criminal justice system.
"We are proud of our program director, Charlie Tumosa, for building a terrific program where students can achieve great things in public service," Hartley said.
