The University of Baltimore saw an overall 65 percent increase in gifts to the institution as the Dec. 3 Giving Tuesday event took place across UB's four schools, the Bogomolny Library, and the Division of Student Success and Support Services. The College of Public Affairs took home the Bowphy for the most gifts received, while the School of Law earned the Giving Cup with nearly $40,000 raised in one day. Student Success had a tremendous showing in its first year as a participant in this competitive fundraising event.
Giving Tuesday is a 24-hour day of giving to show the power of generosity to change lives. For several years now, the UB community has been a part of this worldwide movement.
This year's totals are:
- Bowphy Winner: College of Public Affairs, with 127 gifts received for a 55 percent gift improvement and a 158 percent dollar improvement
- Giving Cup Winner: School of Law, with 94 gifts received for a 50 percent gift improvement and a 229 percent dollar improvement
- Division of Student Success and Support Services, with 99 gifts received for a 379 percent gift improvement and a 463 percent dollar improvement
- Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences, with 54 gifts received for a 90 percent gift improvement and a 238 percent dollar improvement
- Merrick School of Business, with 53 gifts received for a 30 percent gft improvement and a 44 percent dollar improvement
- Robert L. Bogomolny Library, with 37 gifts received for a 53 percent gift improvement and a 224 percent dollar improvement
Giving Tuesday contributions provide direct, student-focused support for the various schools, division and the library. The amount of gifts varies, and units competing with each other to see which one can garner the highest number of gifts (earning the Bowphy) and the highest amount of donation dollars (earning the Giving Cup).
