Certificate in Advanced UX Research Requirements
These requirements apply to students entering this program in fall 2023 and thereafter.
Classes can be completed synchronously online, except for a one-week on-campus experience doing in-person research with special populations. All classes are scheduled during the evenings.
This 12-credit program requires the following:

IDIA 740 Topics in Computers and Cognition
Intensive exploration of topics in human/computer interaction and cognition of mutual interest to students and faculty. Content varies depending on the interests of faculty and students. Course may be repeated for credit when topic changes. Lab fee required. Prerequisite: IDIA 640 or permission of instructor.

IDIA 742 Topics in User Research
Intensive exploration of topics in user research of mutual interest to students and faculty. Content varies depending on the interests of faculty and students. Course may be repeated for credit when topic changes. Lab Fee required. Prerequisite: PBDS 501 or passing score on the hypermedia proficiency exam in addition to IDIA 642

IDIA 841 Statistics and Quant Analysis for UX
Prepares students to design valid quantitative studies and to analyze and interpret quantitative research results using common statistical measures. Students study common measures of central tendency, variability, variance, covariance, and multiple regression.

IDIA 842 Experimental Methods for User Research
Introduces the fundamentals of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies for applied research in human/computer interaction and user experience design. Lab fee required.
