Publishing Arts is an integral and unique part of the way we think about writing. Students work as writers, editors, designers, book makers and publishers.
We offer hands-on classes in book arts, type and design, electronic publishing, book design, and creating a journal.
Students create their own books, websites, e-books and blogs.
Editors, agents and publishers visit our program and participate on panels in our M.F.A. Reading Series.
Welter , a national literary journal, is edited and produced by students in the M.F.A. program.
Skelter , a UB literary journal.
Passager , a national literary journal for writers over 50.
In their final year, students complete a thesis, which they write, edit, design and publish as a book. In May, the graduating class gives a reading and sells their books at a book fair in the Student Center.
