M.R.P., Ph.D., Syracuse University
I have more than 25 years of public service with the federal government, my last assignment being that of assistant secretary of management and budget for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from 1995-2001. During that time, I never ceased to be impressed with the work of dedicated civil servants who come from all walks of life but who have an enduring commitment to the task at hand.
That is one of the reasons why I am so enthused to teach at the University of Baltimore. "Knowledge That Works" is our tagline, and our students and faculty live up to that maxim every day. Teaching in both the Health Systems Management and the Public Administration programs, I have been most impressed with the students’ commitment to their educational pursuits even as they work and often raise families, as well.
UB is teaching a whole new corps of professionals who are going to bring creativity and progress to their chosen professions. I am proud to be a partner in that pursuit of excellence.
