If you are a criminal justice professional working in a federal, state or local governmental organization or in a nonprofit agency and are looking to advance in your field, then this program is for you. Our 30-credit Master of Professional Studies program, offered exclusively at the Universities at Shady Grove , will prepare you for leadership and/or management positions in law enforcement, correctional organizations, probation and parole, juvenile justice, victim services, corporate security, and other criminal justice-related agencies.
How does the program work?
This 30-credit advanced degree focuses on leadership, management and accountability. Course content includes:
- ethics in criminal justice
- crime and policy development
- professional communication
- politics, legislation and media
- administration, systems and applications
- leadership development
- strategic crisis management.
For your capstone project, you will combine your knowledge of justice leadership and management, policy and the law, and practical skills to analyze a real-world problem.
Classes are offered evenings in 10-week semesters, in both traditional classroom and hybrid (a mix of face-to-face and online) formats. The program can be completed in a year and a half.

As a UB student attending USG, you will pay the same tuition and have the same financial aid opportunities as does any other UB student (you may pay differing fees based on your home campus). Your classes at USG will be taught by UB faculty, and you’ll graduate with a UB degree.
