The University of Baltimore will join Baltimore's annual Artscape event with "The Mystic Lands of Gamescape," an interactive showcase for gaming and a celebration of UB's lauded program in Simulation and Game Design, starting July 21 and continuing through July 23. Artscape is the nation's largest free art and performance fair, attracting more than 300,000 to the city's center.
This year's Gamescape game design showcase, taking place inside UB's Learning Commons building, 1415 Maryland Ave., will feature professional gaming companies demonstrating their products, plus student gamers showing their own games. An interactive scavenger hunt through Gamescape will take place on Gordon Plaza adjacent to the Learning Commons; it's accessible via an app. Gamescape also will have "spawn time" giveaways—once a day, we'll give out Gamescape oriented swag. Look for spawn time announcements on UB's Facebook page and on Gamescape signage.
Another cool aspect of Artscape is High Zero's Worlds in Collusion festival. Baltimore's experimental music crowd will fill the Wright Theater in the UB Student Center, 21 W. Mt. Royal Ave., with an amazing range of performances spanning contemporary digital to ancient songs of Mali and Zimbabwean thumb piano music. High Zero's Worlds in Collusion festival is part of Artscape and free to the public. Check out the schedule.
