In an article in Best Colleges, Lakeisha Mathews, director of the University of Baltimore's Career and Internship Center, says the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every aspect of student life—but career planning continues as her staff connects with students in a virtual environment.
The article points out that job hunting is a 12-months-a-year process, so college career centers stay open in summers, ready to assist students as they look for work and plan out their careers. When UB classes moved to online-only during the spring semester, the Career and Internship Center did the same, and, as Mathews notes, now "engages students in a virtual environment and helps then find employment and navigate the workforce."
UB's center offers a host of helpful information and guides for students to engage with their career center as they plan their future. The only difference during the pandemic is that interactions with the center take place in a virtual environment.
