The University of Baltimore Foundation has announced the appointment of Joan M. Worthington, B.S. '84, M.B.A. '91, as board chair for a two-year term effective July 1. The foundation is a designated 501c3, first established in 1969. In addition to assisting in the financial well-being of the institution, the board also provides leadership and guidance to the UBalt administration in advancing the mission of The University of Baltimore.
Worthington has served on the UBalt Foundation Board since 2011. A two-time University of Baltimore alumna, she has spent her career in technology since earning her Information Systems/Business B.S. degree in 1984, followed by her UBalt M.B.A. in 1991. Most recently, she served as HireVue's vice president of professional services, leading its video-interviewing platform and maximizing results for clients' personnel objectives. Prior to that, she served as a Technology Fellow for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, a position she held for five years while deploying several system-level initiatives.
"I've known Joan Worthington for many years, and like others at the University, I see her as both a proud and enthusiastic graduate of our institution, as well as a trusted, highly capable professional with a real vision for what technology can do for people and organizations," says University of Baltimore President Kurt L. Schmoke. "I'm looking forward to working with her on a number of key institutional goals and initiatives. Joan also is an avid runner, with more than 5,000 miles achieved over the past five years. With that kind of spirit and energy, UBalt is lucky to have her on our team."
Prior to her most recent positions, Worthington was principal of her consulting firm, J. Worthington and Associates, which specialized in implementing technology systems in organizations to improve and enhance business operations. Worthington also has served on and chaired several other regional nonprofit boards, including The Red Devils and The Institute of Notre Dame.
