POP/IMAP Email Settings

You can configure certain mobile devices to access UB e-mail remotely. The settings below have been provided for your convenience. Please ensure that your contacts are backed up prior to configuring your device. Note: The settings below apply to faculty and staff accounts only. Outlook Web Access (OWA) through the MyUB Portal is the only recommended method of accessing email from off-campus and is the only remote method supported by OTS.

Android Settings

  • E-mail: your UB email address

  • Domain: CIS

  • Username: netID (where netID is your username)

    Note: You may need to enter the domain and username together as cis\netID

     

  • Password: your netID password

  • Server: activesync.ubalt.edu

  • SSL: set to ON

Note: Corporate Sync is for Microsoft® Exchange server work email accounts.

    1. Open up My Accounts application from application tray or through Menu > Settings
    2. Tap Add account
    3. Tap Corporate Sync
    4. Your Corporate exchange account settings will be displayed

    5. To access the manual set-up options for Exchange account, use your UB email account on the first screen for the corporate sync account setup.

    6. On the second screen that appears, additional fields will be displayed. Change the username and password to your netID and password for the Exchange email account. Also enter the domain name (CIS) and server name (activesync.ubalt.edu).

    7. After the account has been validated, go to the Main Home screen and click on Menu > Settings > Accounts. Look for the new account that was just created; it will have the same name of the account that was used to start the setup process.  

    8. Select the correct account name, then tap on General Settings and change the account name to the correct name for your Exchange account. Tap OK to complete.  
 

BlackBerry Settings

  1. Press the Blackberry menu button.
  2. Open the Setup folder.
  3. Click Email Settings.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Click Other.
  6. Enter your email address (e.g. jane.doe@ubalt.edu).
  7. Enter your password (this is the same password that you use to login to MyUB).
  8. Click Next (processing may take a few moments)
  9. Blackberry may inform you that it cannot automatically configure the account.
  10. If so, select I will provide the settings to add this email account.
  11. Select the type of account you want to configure (POP or IMAP).
  12. For a POP configuration enter the mail server: pops.ubalt.edu. For an IMAP configuration enter the email server: imaps.ubalt.edu
  13. Enter your username: netID@cis.ubalt.edu
  14. Click Next.
  15. Your account has now been successfully added.

  • User name: your UB netID

  • Password: your netID password

  • Save Password: check
