Financial Aid Information for Parents and Families
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
University of Baltimore faculty and staff are committed to ensuring your student's rights are maintained under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Your student is the owner of his or her records and university officials will need the permission from your student in order to discuss his or her account with you.

At UBalt, we work very hard to help families maximize their financial aid options and provide clear guidance to help students achieve their educational goals. Financial aid counselors are available to you and your child at anytime to offer direction and advice in areas relating to financial aid and student accounts.
While we encourage you to read through our website for more detailed information, we've highlighted a few key points that parents really need to know.
- The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step in your student’s financial aid journey.
- All Financial Aid notices are sent electronically to your student.
- The MyUB Portal is where your student can view his or her financial aid award, financial aid timeline, and the To Do list (which lists all required documentation). A netID and password are required to log in.
- The Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan is available to parents of dependent undergraduate students to help your family cover the cost of your student’s education.
