Are students required to attend an orientation program?
It is required that all first-year students complete the orientation program. The information given at orientation is important to your success at UBalt. If you are unable to attend, please email us at engagement@ubalt.edu and we will send you follow-up information.
When will students receive information about orientation?
Orientation invitations are emailed to accepted students at least one month prior to orientation.
How do students RSVP for orientation once they receive their invitation?
Students can RSVP for an orientation session at www.ubalt.edu/orientation. Click the Orientation RSVP button to complete your registration.
Do I need to RSVP for orientation?
Yes. To assist us in planning appropriately, please be sure to RSVP. If you are unable to attend, please email engagement@ubalt.edu and we will send you follow-up information.
Can I RSVP for orientation via email, over the phone or by fax?
No. We are not able to RSVP students to an orientation session by phone or fax.
I cannot attend when orientation is happening. Is there another date I can attend?
Each orientation is planned with content specific to a unique UBalt population (Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences and Freshman Students, Merrick School of Business, or College of Public Affairs). There are two nights of Orientation in the fall and one night in the spring. If you are unable to attend your orientation, please email engagement@ubalt.edu and we will send you follow-up information.
What will students do during the orientation program?
During orientation, you will participate in academic sessions, meet with representatives from your chosen academic department and or/academic advisors from the area of your intended major, and discuss your plans for the semester. Orientation is also your opportunity to connect with the UBalt community before your first day of classes, meet with new peers, and learn important information about life at UBalt from current students.
Can my guest attend orientation?
There is a limit of 1 guest per student at Orientation. There is not a specific family and guest orientation.
What is the cost of the orientation program and what does it cover?
There is no cost for orientation. However, parking in the Fitzgerald Garage is $7 for students and guests.
What should I bring to orientation?
Bring with you a valid photo ID (a valid driver's license, state issued ID card, passport or military ID). We recommend that you wear comfortable clothes and footwear. We will provide you with a padfolio (with notepad) and pen as a part of the experience.
What time does orientation start and when should I expect to be finished?
Orientation begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. The schedule will be provided upon check-in.
Where should I park for orientation?
Parking at the Fitzgerald garage will be $7 for all students and guests. There are a few other garages in the area and street parking- but they do not have a special orientation day rate.

- Pull a ticket at the entrance gate, and take it with you when you exit your vehicle.
- Pay the $7 with credit or debit at the gate. The gate will open to allow exit.
Will we be given a campus tour during orientation?
Campus tours will be offered during the first part of the orientation program.
I'm an international student. Where do I go for orientation?
We strongly recommend that international students attend orientation. The
Office of Diversity and International Services
will send out seperate communication about an ongoing series of mini-orientations, called "Campus Connections" that aim to give international students an introduction to campus resources and opportunities on campus.
I'm a UBalt student taking classes at the Universities at Shady Grove. Where do I go for orientation?

Can I attend orientation if I haven't been accepted yet?
No. Orientation is only for students who have been accepted to the University of Baltimore. If you are interested in learning more about UBalt, contact the Offices of Admission.
