Program Overview

Program Overview

Our 42-credit master's program can help you develop such valuable skills as problem-solving and dispute resolution and teach you how to apply them to a variety of settings. The program's interdisciplinary curriculum draws on the expertise of three UB schools—the Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts, the Merrick School of Business and the School of Law. From this rich mix of legal, business, social science and humanities perspectives, you'll gain a broad understanding of conflict and how to manage it.

Your capstone internship experience will allow you to gain insight into practical applications of negotiation and conflict management in the field. The program's remarkable range of internships has partnered students with the Department of Energy, the Office of the Maryland Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland, the national Association for Conflict Resolution, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Baltimore City Office of the Labor Commissioner, among others. The skills learned here will enhance your value in your current career or open doors to new opportunities.

The Negotiations and Conflict Management student association keeps students in the M.S. program informed and educated about relevant issues, provides peer support and guidance, and organizes events that nurture the professional growth of the student body.

Classes are offered evenings, and some courses are offered in the summer for continuing students.

The Center for Negotiations and Conflict Management serves as a neutral and impartial forum for consideration of policy issues associated with dispute resolution and the provision of training and technical assistance.
