The University of Baltimore will celebrate International Education Week, Nov. 17-20, with a series of events highlighting the involvement of UB students, faculty and staff in international law, business, culture and the arts.
A joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, International Education Week celebrates the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States are highlighted throughout the week.
At UB, the following events will take place in celebraiton of International Education Week:
South Korean Legal Education: A Brief Introduction to Recent Reforms and Criticisms
Monday, Nov. 17
3:30-4:30 p.m.
Angelos Law Center Moot Court Room
Judge Hyunjin Kong, visiting research scholar at the University of Baltimore School of Law, will discuss recent changes and challenges in law school education in South Korea. An assistant judge of Seoul Administrative Court, she is funded by the Korea Supreme Court to visit the U.S. in 2014-15.
International Alumni Career Panel
Tuesday, Nov. 18
3:30-5 p.m.
Angelos Law Center Moot Court Room
UB international alumni from Romania, Canada and Korea will offer job search tips and advice on thriving in the U.S. employment market. Join Ana Costache, a masters in Health Systems Management candidate, Marcus Newton, M.B.A., '08, and Hanju Lee, B.S. '00, M.A. '02, M.F.A. '08, at this annual event.
Piano Concert
Wednesday, Nov. 19
3:30-5 p.m.
Angelos Law Center, 12th floor
Two UB graduate students from Haiti and Vietnam will play selections of classical and contemporary piano music. Patrick Joseph, a masters student in Negotiation and Conflict Management program and a native of Haiti, and Duy NGO, a finance major from Vietnam, will demonstrate their musical talents.
Holidays Around the World
Thursday, Nov. 20
Noon-2 p.m.
William H. Thumel Sr. Business Center, rooms 143 and 141
The Holidays Around the World program hosted by UB's Diversity and Culture Center is an opportunity to find out about special holidays or observances celebrated in various countries. Students share traditional clothing, food and art, symbolic of their cultural celebrations.
All UB Community Members are invited to these events.
