University of Baltimore President Kurt L. Schmoke will receive the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Baltimore District Council of the Urban Land Institute, during a presentation on Oct. 4 at The Winslow Parker Metal Building. The former three-term mayor of Baltimore has led a number of efforts to improve city housing, education, economic development and public health, and continues today as the leader of a community of learners and scholars who are making an impact on a changing urban landscape.
"As an elected official, educator, and lawyer, Kurt Schmoke has made an outstanding commitment to development not just in our community, but also throughout the nation," said Kim Clark, ULI Baltimore District Council Chair. "His emphasis on improving all areas of community revitalization, from real estate development and fair housing to law, literacy and the environment will leave a lasting impact for years to come. We are honored to present him with this year's Lifetime Achievement Award."
