Abdu Eaton: Born in Baltimore with teen parents of age 13 (mom) & age 14 (dad). So being raised in the conrete jungle was not easy, especially growing up with your own mother. I saw my mother mature form a girl to a woman. She also had a few more kids on the way and my dad married and had a kid of his own. Luckily I did not stay in the depths of misery and graduated into a public school of higher learner and entered the hills of Baltimore City College.

I also realized that fashion is really apart of our culture and many human beings use to tell story about life, without even knowing it and that is when the admiration began. Looking for colleges that was going to help me get close to the fashion industry was one of my main goals in my senior year of high school. I did get into some schools that had concentrations in fashion and I found one but ended up not even going because of financial reasons. After missing the fall semester of college, I learned alot about my self while being isolated from a learning society. I learned that I have the gift of using words to convey a passion, a story, and a meaning. I decided that I would contribute to the fashion industry by being a writer, so that is how ended up being an English major.

With that attitude I stumbled into writing my first ever published article for the UB Post. Fabulous right? I thought, yes some where I can be in the works of fashion/writing and now all I needed is a place to write on the daily and here I am a UB blogger!

Hello out there! My name is Araina Hayden and I am 23 years young. I anticipate graduating the spring of 2013 if life doesn’t get in the way too much. My current major is Business Administration/General Business, but I am definitely switching to one with a liberal arts theme. To be honest, I’m completely undecided about what to do with myself for the rest of my life! Hopefully on this road of life, some "good" career choice will come to me. In my spare time, I love to read and "shoot the breeze" and not stick to any direct plan for leisure activities. I like to go with the flow. I hope you all enjoy my blog entries as much as I enjoy writing them. Until next time!

Name: Ned Gonzalez
Age: 20
Graduation: 2012
Program: Simulation and Digital Entertainment
Career: Video game designing/visual artist

Well, I’m just your average, ordinary guy, living an average, ordinary life. I’m a Filipino-American, living in Baltimore. I am planning to pursue my education to become a game designer or a visual artist or even both, and I will do whatever it takes to become successful.

Elaine Woo: Hello all! This is my first fall semester at UB. I am a Chinese-American born in Seattle, Wash., where I don't miss the rain! I enjoy working in health care as a nursing assistant and started when I was 14 in a middle school program. I specialize in geriatrics, and customer service is my top priority. I first majored in nursing in college, then changed to rad-tech, and now health systems management. At first, I did not see myself honestly doing this career, my aim is in a practical setting, and others advised me I should try it. I had doubts and questions in the health care system; after learning more in class, I've begun to understand the process and its complexity.

In my spare time, I spend time with my boyfriend whom I met online six years ago. I also read, surf the internet, cook, see friends, go out, play xbox, snowboard, shoot pool, try new and old things. Study everyday and work part-time.

Tabitha Surface: I am an M.F.A. candidate in the Creative Writing & Publishing Arts program; I expect to graduate in 2012. With this M.F.A. I hope to become an editor and a published author, eventually able to work exclusively in my pajamas. I love to read, have a penchant for taking in strays, and, at 26, I have now been studying, and failing, at Spanish for six years but I'm still determined to become fluent.

Charlene Faison: Originally from Washington, D.C., I landed in Baltimore nine years ago. I am 34 years old and pursuing a degree in Corporate Communication, although I have yet to figure out what I want to do with this degree. Returning back to school after a pretty long hiatus, I am taking it one step (and one class) at a time. I wear a number of hats ... full-time state employee, mommy, step-mom, wife and student. My job as mommy pays love instead of money!!! In my spare time, I enjoy sitting on the porch reading a magazine, watching a good movie or chatting it up with my BFF. I also enjoy cooking and hosting gatherings for my friends ... friends that claim I am addicted to Facebook!

My name is Miles Lamborne, I am 24 years old and I am starting my senior year here at the University of Baltimore. I will be graduating in May 2010 when I will receive a B.S. in Business Administration/Entreprenuership. I am (hopefully) starting an internship as a business consultant at the Entrepreneurial Opportunity Center here soon which will give me a career direction once I graduate. I eventually intend to start a sustainability consulting firm—showing businesses how they can save money by becoming more environmentally friendly—after working in the field for a few years. I'm a firm believer in education and will undoubtedly go back for my M.B.A. Aside from work and school I am a musician. I play acoustic guitar and all sorts of percussion—typically African hand drums. I also enjoy sailing the Chesapeake Bay on my Hobie Cat, cooking, traveling and this new found love for creative writing.

Liz Bamford: I'm 29, 5'3" and a natural blonde, but despite these drawbacks am capable of writing, editing, and designing layouts for various print and web publications, and in the hopes of being able to do so officially I am beginning my M.F.A. in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts at UB this fall. I originally wanted to be a marine biologist, but gave this up for art history when we were asked to calibrate the ocular micrometer.

My interests include history, the development of fashion and costume, fantasy and science fiction, sushi, steak, nuclear power, poetry, architecture, silversmithing, geology, and satire. I was born in Kenya, have lived in and around Baltimore since 1986 or so (circumnavigating the city from Timonium to Pikesville to Linthicum before finally moving downtown in '04) and am by nationality a Brit.

Laura Jordan: I am 27 years old, born and raised in Baltimore. I have been attending UB since fall 2007 part time while working full time at the Community College of Baltimore County. I am a Corporate Communication major and my dream is to be successful in the business of advertising, marketing and communications. I enjoy art, design, and especially discussing these topics. I hope to one day work for a top advertising agency, become a columnist for a newspaper/magazine, or even be a director of an art gallery. In my free time I love being with my husband, friends, playing softball, exercising, and being with my chocolate Lab.
Laura is an intern in the Office of University Relations who administers the blog.
