The Student Center at the University of Baltimore, located on the southeast corner of Mt. Royal Avenue and Maryland Avenue, is the fulfillment of decades of feasibility studies, student surveys and needs assessments. The 38,000 square foot, five-story facility features a 200-seat theatre with panoramic city views, retail shops, student organization offices and areas for group study, recreation and quiet contemplation.

The building, designed by the Baltimore architecture firm Murphy & Dittenhafer, received a Citation Award from the Central Pennsylvania chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), for “a lively corner treatment [that] brings student life to the street in this ambitious collage of forms and materials.” Baltimore magazine praised the facility in its July 2006 edition, calling it one of the best buildings to be constructed in the city in the last 10 years.

The Student Center was formally dedicated on April 17, 2006. It has become a primary gathering place for students, faculty and staff.
