Meet a Student: Liam Beck

It’s been more than two decades since Donna L. Hill, B.A. ’91, graduated from the University of Baltimore, yet she still couldn’t quell her excitement when she spotted a fellow member of the UB community trying out for Baltimore’s Marching Ravens. Hill, who manages equipment for the band, sent us an email and an accompanying photo over the summer:
Good afternoon,
I am a member of Baltimore’s Marching Ravens. Several months ago we auditioned for new members and I spotted a young man wearing a “UB” T-shirt (in green). When I approached him, he said he was entering [the] University of Baltimore this year as a freshman.
When I attended UB, we had no freshmen or sophomores, only upperclassmen! So [in July] when we took the band picture down at M&T Bank Stadium, I had my daughter snap a shot of the two of us … Liam Beck, incoming freshman, Class of 2018, and Donna Hill, B.A. English, 1981. Liam is in the snare line, [and] I manage the equipment for the band.
Thought you might enjoy.

And a little more about Hill: She and her husband, Steve, have five children, ages 17-32, and two grandchildren. In addition to keeping the Baltimore’s Marching Ravens equipment in check, she works part time as a legal assistant at Pike & Gilliss in Timonium, Maryland.
