The Financial Analyst manages budget maintenance and financial transactions including billing for departments under the Auxiliary umbrella in a timely, accurate and fiscally responsible manner. Prepares accurate and timely budget forecasts, and maintains complex long-term revenue and expense models used for departmental budgeting and planning. This may involve performing business analysis ranging from simple to complex, in addition to developing and performing revenue and contract audits. The Financial Analyst serves as a departmental resource to prepare ad hoc reports, which may require visual aids such as graphs. The incumbent also manages departmental record retention and ensures that polices remain current and in compliance.

Key Functions/Responsibilities/Tasks:
Budget Development/Management
Financial administration which may include but is not limited to: Monitor the departmental budgets and move funds as needed. Process departmental bills, ensuring the accuracy of payments and establishment of work performed/ completed to standard. Bill external clients with accuracy and attention to detail. Use strict confidentiality while managing the receipt of pre-tax parking cards, and communicating parking selections to the parking manager. Coordinate the preparation of the pre-tax payroll deduction upload for parking, ensure accurate uploads, and thorough follow up to verify transactions.
Revenue Auditing
Perform audits of departmental revenue ranging from basic to complex. Continually develop new audits, and revise existing audits to ensure effectiveness. Assist departmental managers with audit planning and performance, and perform AR audit. This could involve pulling together information from several different sources and determining how to best put all of the required elements together. Revise audits based on additional details found and working with auditors based on what is needed. Assist the department in monitoring contract term periods. Manages departmental record retention schedule.
Financial Reporting and Forecasting
Perform business analysis, and prepare short term and long term business forecasts and scenarios. Look at recent and upcoming events to understand trends that could impact revenue. Prepare reports that range from simple to complex to indicate business status. Write procedures, research and compile reports with data and graphs for departmental projects.
Other Duties as Assigned
Examples may be to prepare ad hoc reports, to monitor the onsite work of a vendor, to make a Bee Card, or to sign out a package to someone in the campus community.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or other related financial field
Required Experience:
Some related experience in a financial or accounting position. Experience using financial and quantitative tools. Experience working with an ERP/integrated technology.
Preferred Experience:
Three or more years of experience managing financial processes and performing audits in a higher education and or state/ government environment. Customer service experience with a variety of internal and external customers.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Attention to detail to produce very accurate results. Experience designing and conducting audits, to evaluating audits’ effectiveness and subsequently developing revisions to achieve an improved process. Ability to work with department members to design, conduct, evaluate and continually improve audits and their effectiveness as a management tool. Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and the ability to apply this knowledge to departmental work in task planning, spreadsheet preparation, analysis and presentation. Ability to complete transactions with a high level of accuracy, and to work with other departments to investigate and resolve discrepancies. Ability to clearly present verbally, in writing and with visual exhibits, detailed information to department members. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with departmental and customer information. Ability to resolve customer needs in a highly professional manner, understanding that Auxiliary is a high-touch customer service area.
