The University of Baltimore School of Law presents a monthly series on issues around the rule of law. Organized by faculty members with assistance from students, the series examines the rule of law in the United States and abroad, and the institutions constitutionally tasked with upholding it.
The first event will be "The Constitution & the Rule of Law," on Monday, Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. in the Warnken Moot Courtroom. This is the University’s Constitution Day commemoration. Addressing this topic will be UBalt Law Prof. Kim Wehle and Hon. Andre M. Davis, who retired from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in 2017 to become City Solicitor for Baltimore City, a position he held until 2020.
Upcoming sessions, also in the Warnken Moot Courtroom, include "What is the Rule of Law and Why is it So Important?," with Prof. Mortimer Sellers and Prof. Ioanna Tourkochoriti, on Oct. 8 at 6 p.m., and "The History of the Rule of Law: Origins, Development, and the Role of Lawyers," with Prof. John Bessler and Daniel Ernst, the Carmack Waterhouse Professor of Legal History at the Georgetown University Law Center, on Monday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m.
Registration is not required for these discussions.
