The University of Baltimore's Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) is teaming up with TEDCO and other institutions to launch the Urban Business Innovation Initiative (UBII) Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIR) Grant Program. According to TEDCO, the updated program encompasses two urban areas in Maryland—Baltimore City and Prince George's County—"in a continued commitment to advancing Maryland's innovation ecosystem by expanding entrepreneurial opportunities."
"By restructuring the UBII program, we are aiming to provide more opportunities for entrepreneurs across urban Maryland," said Troy LeMaile-Stovall, TEDCO CEO. "The organizations and entrepreneurs-in-residence were selected after careful consideration."
In Baltimore, UBalt and Loyola University will serve as the grantee organizations. Each participating entity will be responsible for collaborating with TEDCO to align EIR activities with broader ecosystem goals, including outreach, startup engagement, data collection and reporting.
Marcus Bullock, CEO of Flikshop, was selected to be CEI's entrepreneur in residence.
TEDCO notes that UBII is designed to enhance technology commercialization and provide technical and business assistance to small and early-stage companies in urban Maryland. Assistance to companies is provided by TEDCO's Venture Growth Advisors, who work in concert with our collaborators to ensure a high level of support for these companies. Each urban region has a dedicated, highly experienced Venture Growth Advisor who evaluates potential clients and provides mentoring as well as connections to support programs offered by TEDCO and our collaborators.
