
Aaron Oldenburg, professor in The University of Baltimore's Simulation and Game Design program and a Baltimore-based game, interactive and video artist, will host a public reception for his new work, Night Walks, on Saturday, July 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Montpelier Arts Center, 9652 Muirkirk Rd., in Laurel. The event is free and open to the public. The Montpelier Arts Center is part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
Night Walks is described by the center as "a series of procedural software works, including interactive virtual reality, that deal with memory, climate instability, and bodily de/re-composition. Prints of screenshots taken from them accompany the works."
According to an event description, Prof. Oldenburg "creates artworks using game engines, coding languages, 2D and 3D digital art creation software, and audio sampling."
The piece runs through Aug. 8.
