On June 12, University of Baltimore President Kurt L. Schmoke announced to the University System of Maryland Board of Regents his intention to retire from UBalt in June 2027. Having steered the institution through monumental changes in the education marketplace, through a global pandemic, and finally through the University's 2025 Centennial, he said he believes it is time for new leadership to continue to drive UBalt into the future.
"I'm looking forward to working with the community to build on the momentum of our Centennial year," he said. "Like others at our University, I'm committed to building on a great legacy, not resting on it."
