General Rules
We will accept up to a maximum of 90 transfer credits from any combination of the following sources- up to 63 lower-division (100- and 200-level) credits from a community college
- up to 70 lower-division credits from a four-year institution
- up to 20 upper-division credits (300- and 400-level) from a four-year institution
- up to 45 acceptable credits in any combination of Credit by Examination and/or nontraditional coursework (beginning for fall 2021 enrollment, students who transferred before that date can transfer in up to 30 credits).

Transfer Credit from Maryland Community Colleges or Four-Year Public Institutions
We value students who transfer from Maryland institutions.Students transferring from one of Maryland's 16 community colleges or from one of the public institutions in the state will have the following apply:- Courses designated as a general education at the sending institution will count towards general education at UBalt. Students must earn a "D" or better in these classes; English Composition requires a grade of "C-" or better.
- Students who have earned an A.A., A.S. or A.A.T. will have their lower-division general education program satisfied; additional general education courses will be required. Students who earn an A.A.S, A.S.E. or A.F.A. will be required to complete additional lower- and upper-division general education coursework.
- A grade of "D" or better must be earned in a class for it to transfer; a grade of "C" or better is required to apply towards a major requirement.

Transfer Credit from U.S. Universities or Colleges
At The University of Baltimore, our specialty is ensuring your credits transfer.Students who enroll from non-public Maryland institutions will have coursework transfer according to the following rules:- A grade of "C" or better must be earned in a class for it to transfer, the same is required to apply towards a major requirement
- General Education equivalencies will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Transfer Credit from International Universities or Colleges
We accept credits evaluated by third-party international credit evaluators.If you have attended a high school, college or university outside of the United States, you must arrange, at your expense, to have your academic record evaluated by a U.S. credential evaluation service. For transfer and graduate applicants, this evaluation must be done on a course-by-course basis and include GPA calculation to a 4.0 grading scale. For more information, please contact each service directly for a reliable, up-to-date quote. UBalt does not evaluate transcripts from non-U.S. schools. Cambridge International:
Students who have completed an Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) diploma or who have successfully completed AS or A level examinations will be entitled to credit at UBalt (diploma scores of D, M, and P for “distinction,” “merit,” and “pass” are accepted for credit; individual exam scores must have earned at least a D, which is roughly equivalent to a U.S. grade of C+). Students must have official scores sent to UBalt to receive credit.

Credit for Exams: Advanced Placement (AP)
High Schools students who take AP exams may earn college credit.AP credit may be applied toward general education requirements, general electives or, in specific cases, toward a major requirement. A single AP exam may be used to satisfy both a general education requirement and a major requirement if both standards are met. A single AP exam may not be used to satisfy both a general education requirement and a general elective or both a general elective requirement and a major requirement. If the listed UBalt equivalency is a general education requirement, the awarded credits may be substituted to satisfy a general elective. Under no circumstances can a single AP exam be awarded more than the number of credits indicated in the table below.

Credit for Exams: International Baccalaureate (IB)
Students who earn an IB Diploma, or who earn IB credit, may receive credit for their credential.Students who have completed higher-level International Baccalaureate (IB) courses or the requirements for an IB diploma in high school and who have successfully completed the corresponding IB examinations may be entitled to credit at UBalt.- IB Standard Level (SL): A minimum score of 3 is required for all IB courses transferred to UBalt. Except where noted for Science subjects, Standard Level IB courses transfer as 3 credits at UBalt.
- IB Higher Level (HL): A minimum score of 3 is required for all IB courses transferred to UBalt. Except where noted for Science subjects, Higher Level IB courses transfer as 6 credits at UBalt.
- We award 30 credits and sophomore standing to high-school students who complete the full IB (International Baccalaureate) diploma. Each applicant’s transcript will be reviewed by the Office of Records and Registration to determine how the 30 credits will applied to the record of the student.
- Students who have completed higher-level IB courses without completing the full diploma and have successfully completed the corresponding IB examinations may be entitled to credit at UBalt. Students should have official exam scores sent from the International Baccalaureate Organization to UBalt; the Office of Records and Registration will review exam scores and determine credits awarded.

Credit for Exams: CLEP Tests
Satisfactory completion of a CLEP exam may earn you college credit.Since CLEP exams are most often taken to fulfill general education and general elective requirements, CLEP scores are accepted for credit before completion of 90 credit hours. Once a student has begun the last 30 credits of study, CLEP scores are no longer accepted for credit. CLEP credit may be applied toward general education requirements, general electives or, in specific cases, toward a major requirement. Under no circumstances can a single CLEP exam be awarded more than the number of credits indicated in the table. A single CLEP exam may be used to satisfy both a general education requirement and a major requirement if both standards are met. A single CLEP exam may not be used to satisfy both a general education requirement and a general elective or both a general elective requirement and a major requirement. Credit for Exams: DSST Exams
Military or civilian students who take DSST exams can earn credit for satisfactory completion of an exam.UBalt awards credit based on scores on the DSST and follows the recommendations of the American Council on Education regarding the numbers and types of credit awarded for minimum scores. Those who have training or learning experiences as military personnel and would like additional information should contact the Office of Admission.Individual Equivalencies include: -

These national courses may earn you credit.UBalt Faculty have determined equivalencies for Straighter Line exams. These are not based on ACE recommendations. Students must provide official documentation to receive credit.

Military Credit
UBalt will accept credit for both Occupation and Service Experiences.The University of Baltimore is authorized to accept credits approved through your Joint Service Transcript (JST). The American Council on Education (ACE) will review your military transcript for free and submit their credit evaluations to the educational institutions of your choosing.

As part of the admission process, please submit your JST. The JST will not count towards your admission decision. Once admitted, a Transcript Evaluator will conduct a credit evaluation. That evaluation will be available on your MyUB portal, and can be reviewed and edited by your Academic Adviser.
Credit earned at the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) does not count as Military Credit, and will transfer in accordance with the credit limits posted above.

Credentials, Licenses and Certificates
Turn your work experience into credit.The University of Baltimore will grant credit for approved national, state and local credentials. Students should speak with their admission counselor, or their academic adviser, to learn more. Students are responsible for providing official documentation to verify that they have the credential. All credentials must be active at the time of enrollment.
