David Lingelbach (B.S., M.S., MIT; Ph.D., Exeter) is a Professor of Entrepreneurship at The University of Baltimore. His research focuses on oligarchs, entrepreneurship in developing and emerging economies, and entrepreneurial finance. David’s articles have been published in leading international academic journals, including Journal of Management Inquiry, Venture Capital: An International Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance, and the International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He is co-author of the award-winningThe Oligarchs' Grip: Fusing Wealth and Power, and of Entrepreneurship in Africa: Context and Perspectives. David is also editor of the De Gruyter Handbook of Entrepreneurial Finance. David is a frequent contributor to The Hill, The Messenger, and other media outlets and has been awarded Fulbrights to Myanmar and Colombia. Prior to becoming an academic, he was founder or co-founder of nine startups and worked in international finance and development, including five years in Russia as President of that country’s first venture capital fund and CEO of Bank of America’s businesses in the former Soviet Union. He is chair and co-founder of The Center for the Study of Oligarchs.
