Geraldine Kalim joined the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2023 as the Law Library's Reference & Instructional Services Librarian. In this role, she contributes to legal research instruction within first-year legal writing courses, in addition to teaching upper-level legal research electives.
Before moving to Baltimore, Kalim taught first-year Legal Research and upper-level Advanced Legal Research at the University of Georgia School of Law. Prior to becoming a law librarian, Kalim worked in federal government affairs in firm, corporate and municipal settings, including as a legislative analyst at Polsinelli and as a legislative advisor in the New York City Mayor's Office of Federal Affairs. During her academic career, she completed legal internships with the U.S. Department of Justice, the CUA Innocence Project Clinic, and in Maryland criminal defense.
Kalim earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UGA and her Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. At CUA Law, she served on the CommLaw Conspectus: Journal of Communications Law and Policy and graduated with a pro bono certificate of highest honors. While working at the George Mason University Law Library, she earned her Master of Science in Library and Information Science from CUA.
Kalim has served in various leadership roles within the American Association of Law Libraries and its local chapters. She writes and presents on pedagogy, legal research instruction, and inclusive learning environments. She is a member of the Maryland Bar.
